Horror Movies of All Time
Horror films date back to the early 1900s, with Hollywood producing iconic movies such as Frankenstein (1931), Dracula (1931), and The Mummy (1932). Over time, this genre has evolved, expanding into sub-genres like slasher films and supernatural horrors.
In celebration of Halloween this year, we’ve ranked the top 15 highest-grossing horror movies of all time, using data from The Numbers.
The numbers in this graphic represent worldwide box office revenues. To compare revenue from these different time periods, all figures have been converted to 2022 USD. We used the
CPI Inflation Calculator, a free tool created by Ian Webster.
The table below provides both dollar figures (inflation adjusted and non-adjusted).
After accounting for inflation, we can conclude that The Exorcist (1973) and Jaws (1975) are the two highest-grossing horror movies of all time. Furthermore, both of these movies are the first of their respective franchises.
While no titles from 2023 made it into the top 15 list, many of them have still been successful.
As of Oct. 29, The Nun II is the best performing horror flick of 2023, with $263 million in global box office revenue (current USD). Further behind is Insidious: The Red Door ($186M) and Scream VI ($169M).

Gaza solidarity encampments have appeared on college campuses across California and the nation, joining a growing wave of protests against Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. Before going to a protest, demonstrators or observers should note that their cellphones may subject them to surveillance tactics by law enforcement. If your cellphone is on and unsecured, your location can be tracked and your unencrypted communications, such as text messages, may be intercepted. Additionally, police may retrieve your messages and the content of your phone if they take custody of your phone, or later by warrant or subpoena.
Here’s what to know if you’re asked about your immigration status at a protest, and other factors mean there is no one-size-fits-all privavy advice for whether to bring your mobile phone to protest.

Construction financing secured for 251-unit
multifamily project on Clairemont Mesa Blvd.
CBRE secured $78.5 million in construction financing for developing Ion Clairemont, a 251-unit mid-rise multifamily community located at 8333 Clairmont Mesa Blvd. in San Diego.
The community features a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans, each averaging 806 square feet. Some amenities include an outdoor fitness center and yoga studio, a club room with a lounge area, a resort-style pool and spa, a rooftop deck with lounge areas, fire lounges, a dog run and an outdoor entertaining space.
Bill Chiles, Scott Peterson and Morgan Fraser with CBRE Capital Markets’’ Debt and Structured Finance team in San Diego secured the senior construction loan and mezzanine loan for the San Diego-based real estate development firm AAA Management.

How California created nation’s easiest abortion accesss — and then went further
California lawmakers have declared the state a “safe haven” for abortion providers and people seeking to end a pregnancy.
Since the U.S. Supreme Court ended a federal constitutional right to an abortion by overturning Roe vs. Wade, Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed some of the strongest state abortion protections in the country: measures that protet women who seek an abortion from criminal or civil liability, strengthen privacy requirements for health apps and prohibit medical providers from sharing patient information with out-of-state law enforcement.
And with abortion pills the most common way to end pregnancies, the Newsom administration purchased a stockpile of the pills and distributed them to providers. That original supply was depleted even before a seemingly skeptical Supreme Court in March heard arguments to severely restrict one of the options, misepristone.

A big sticking point has emerged in San Diego’s efforts to pick a power provider

Imagine this: Solar panels on every rooftop within the city of San Diego, sucking up energy from the sun and storing some for use at night.
The city powers itself like an independent island in a sea of cities served by a for-profit utility, San Diego Gas & Electric. Lower electric delivery charges. No franchise fees.
That’s how proponents for Power San Diego envision a future not-for-profit electric utility to replace SDG&E. Their foot soldiers are the clipboard-bearing activists patrolling outside Petco Park, Target stores and San Diego farmers markets this year, asking residents to “fire SDG&E,” in other words, join the island.
The group needs 80,000 signatures to put the decision before voters in November. If it gets 24,000 by May 14, they could force a vote at the City Council to put it on the ballot. Without major funding, it will be a monumental volunteer undertaking and prospects already aren’t looking good.
Some of its same champions tried to push San Diego into creating a public utility back in 2020 when the city considered renewing its contract with SDG&E, but it was largely ignored by the major players. This time around, the opposition doubled down. SDG&E executives formed a political action committee to fight the ballot measure. Labor unions that contract with the company rturned out to condemn the public power movement at a City Council committee, which obliged to kill the measure.

Illumina files Form 10 registration statement ahead of planned divestiture of GRAIL
Illumina Inc. announced that it has publicly filed a Form 10 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in connection with its intended divestiture of GRAIL. A version of this registration statement was submitted to the SEC last December as required. The Form 10 includes detailed information about GRAIL, including historic financial information, a description of GRAIL’s business and strategy, and other legal and financial disclosures. This filing is a necessary step for a capital markets transaction; however, it is not an indication of the means by which Illumina will ultimately divest GRAIL.

GC Genome to present new clinical data on colorectal cancer detection
