Is California Governor Gavin Newsom an Economic Illiterate or Just Deceitful?

By Katy Grimes | California Globe

California Governor Gavin Newsom is showing the breadth of his economic illiteracy – or just plain old political deceit.

Last week, Gov. Newsom and State Attorney General Rob Bonta sued President Donald Trump over his tariff’s – the first state in the country to do so.

“According to the suit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, they argue that the tariffs are illegal because, under the U.S. Constitution, only Congress has the power to put tariffs into place.”

“President Trump’s unlawful tariffs are wreaking chaos on California families, businesses, and our economy — driving up prices and threatening jobs,” Newsom said in a statement. “We’re standing up for American families who can’t afford to let the chaos continue. No state is poised to lose more than the state of California.”

Then Gavin Newsom whined that his own 4 kids have lots of cheep toys from China under the Christmas Tree, so the U.S. needs to keep the cheap crap from China rolling in: “I’ve got four kids, 80% of their toys under the Christmas tree come from China. I’ve got family members that live paycheck to paycheck, many family members.”

Democratic leaders in the state Legislature declared their intention to tackle affordability this year. Gov. Gavin Newsom and other politicians have since embraced the “abundance” platform, which argues that Democrats must do more to quickly deliver housing, transportation and other infrastructure projects to their constituents.

Lawmakers have introduced ambitious bills that would, for housing developments in existing neighborhoods, blow a hole through the longstanding thicket of environmental reviews and regulations that often slow down projects and add costs. One of those passed its first committee on Monday.

By Jill McLaughlin | The Epoch Times

Conservative author and Fox News contributor Steve Hilton announced on April 22 that he is running to be the next governor of California.

“It’s time to make California golden again,” the British-born Republican told a crowd of supporters gathered along the Huntington Beach shoreline.

“Let’s make California a land of opportunity again,” Hilton said in a video posted Monday. “Great jobs, great homes, great kids. Let’s make California an inspiration again. … There’s only one way to do that: We’ve got to end the one-party rule that got us into this mess.

“It’s time to end the years of Democrat failure. It’s time for a new future.”
