Women’s Resource Fair Set for March 17

The San Diego Volunteer Lawyer program’s 23rd annual Women’s Resource Fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 17 at Golden Hall at the Civic Center in Downtown San Diego. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to participants. The event will provide free services to low-income, homeless, recovering and abused women and their children in San Diego County. Medical services for women (including pap smears and mammograms) and children will be provided. Parents should bring immunization records for their children. Services include confidential legal consultations regarding family law issues, child support, domestic violence restraining orders, public benefits programs, immigration, housing, and consumer protection. Free child care and breakfast and lunch for children up to age 16 will be provided.

Embarcadero Plan to be Reviewed

A panel of speakers will review the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan during a Feb. 14 program sponsored by the Urban Land Institute San Diego/Tijuana Council. It will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the University Club atop Symphony Towers at 750 B St. in Downtown San Diego. Speakers will be Gary Gosse, senior project manager for the Centre City Development Corp.; Martin Poirier of Spurlock Poirier; and Shaun Sumner, real estate manager for the Port of San Diego. LEAD San Diego Adds to Full-Time Staff

LEAD San Diego has added two marketing and event planning professionals to its full-time staff. The new staff members are John Freeman, who was named director of marketing and communications, and Carole Ravago, who will serve as program and event manager. Freeman will coordinate LEAD’s marketing, branding and public relations efforts to reach out to San Diego businesses, media outlets, academic institutions and community decision-makers. Freeman previously was communications director for Knight & Carver Wind Group, a wind energy firm, and Knight & Carver Maritime, a luxury yacht firm. He also spent almost 15 years as a media columnist and sportswriter with The San Diego Union-Tribune. Ravago will organize and coordinate LEAD San Diego’s annual awards gala, the Visionary Awards, set for May 24, as well as manage LEAD’s membership programs, forums and events. Prior to joining LEAD, she was director of development at Pro Kids, The First Tee of San Diego, which encourages young children to play golf.

Torrey Pines Bank Adds John Harvey, Promotes Ed Cuff

Torrey Pines Bank has added John Harvey as senior vice president, regional manager for the San Diego market. The bank promoted Ed Cuff to vice president. Harvey has 30 years of local banking experience in San Diego and North County. Previously, he was seniorvice president, manager of North County corporate lending with Pacific Western Bank. Cuff, who works in the bank’s Symphony Towers office Downtown, was principal/business development for EDGE Development, Inc. and vice president of major accounts for Fidelity National Title Insurance Co. before joining Torrey Pines Bank.

Nancy Stagg Joins Foley & Lardner as Partner

Nancy L. Stagg has joined Foley & Lardner as a partner in its San Diego office. Stagg works with the business litigation and dispute resolution and privacy, security and information practices. Previously, she was a principal at Fish & Richardson. Stagg serves as co-chair of the Lawyer Representative Committee to the Southern District of California and is a member of the Lawyer Representative Coordinating Committee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

McCarthy Building Cos. Appoints Director of Business Development

King

McCarthy Building Companies Inc. has appointed Paul King as director of business development for its San Diego operations. King has eight years of experience in the construction-marketing arena. Most recently, King served three-and-a-half years as director of business development and marketing for Suffolk-Roel in Irvine and San Diego, where he was responsible for business development within the education market and oversaw all the company’s business development managers and its director of marketing. Prior to that, King was business development manager for HBI Construction in Newport Beach. He also served three years as business development manager for Messer Construction in Cincinnati, Ohio.
