Cumming Moves HQ to San Diego

Cumming, a cost-management firm, has moved its corporate headquarters from Orange County to Carmel Corporate Plaza, 15015 Avenue of Science, in San Diego. The company established Orange County as its home base in 1996 and opened a San Diego office three years later, which has grown to one of its largest. “San Diego is the right place for our business to develop and flourish,” said Michael Jensen, president of the company. Other company leaders are Chief Operating Officer Peter Heald and Executive Vice President Derek Hutchison. The firm has worked on Several San Diego County projects for the Grossmont Union High School District, San Diego Community College District, the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley, UCSD Medical Center, Sharp Grossmont Hospital and the Lindbergh Field expansion.
Paloma Patterson to Leave Malashock Dance

Paloma Patterson, executive director of Malashock Dance, is leaving the company Sept. 2 to pursue other professional opportunities. Frank G. Scarpaci of the Vianova Group has been named interim executive director. He was most recently interim executive director of San Diego LGBT Pride. Patterson has been with Malashock Dance since 2005. Before that she spent five years as the business and marketing director for SPACE (School of Performing Arts and Cultural Education) in Ukiah, Calif. Paloma has also spent years performing, teaching and producing events. She co-directed a musical theater class for children ages 9-13, for which she co-wrote a musical with a message of peace that toured to five local elementary schools. She has also taught Creative Movement for 5- and 6-year-olds. Paloma attended Mills College and New College of California, San Francisco, where she received a bachelor’s degree. She holds a master’s degree and a certificate in nonprofit leadership and management from the University of San Diego and American Humanics, respectively.
New Administrator Chosen for McColl Family Health Center
Almaroof Apatira has been hired as administrator of the John A. McColl Family Health Center, a skilled nursing facility operated by St. Paul’s Senior Homes & Services. Apatira has led other skilled nursing centers in Northern California. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in public administration. He most recently completed the chaplaincy program through San Francisco General Hospital. St. Paul’s McColl Family Health Center is a 59-bed skilled nursing community near Balboa Park.
Security Business Bank Opens Escondido Office
Security Business Bank will open an Escondido office today at 800 La Terraza Blvd — its fourth banking office in San Diego County. Located in the Auto Club building, the office will be the forcus of the bank’s North County operations. Chris Burt, a senior vice president, will oversee the company’s Escondido operation. A founder of Bank of Escondido, Burt has hired Jessica Millea as lending assistant; Susie Yang as assistant vice president and personal banker and Carlia Casteel as assistant vice president and operations supervisor.
