Broome Sweeps Away San Diego EDC Position
Barry Broome has changed his mind about taking the job of president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp., a decision he announced shortly after the agency named his as the successor to Julie Meier Wright, who retired. “Although I committed to the EDC, there was an overwhelming response from the Greater Phoenix community for me to stay, and I felt compelled to honor this tremendous support,” said Broome. “EDC is an outstanding organization, and San Diego is an incredible market. I wish both the group and community well.”
“Barry accepted the position then changed his mind,” said EDC Chair Debbie Reed, CEO, Sempra Energy. “We are disappointed with this decision, especially after announcing it publicly. However, San Diego has one of the world’s most diverse economies, and we have had interest in the position from some of the country’s top economic development professionals. We will move forward.”

ShP Securities LLC, the investment banking arm of Shoreline Partners LLC in La Jolla, represented CHMB in the transaction.
