Law Firm Changes Name
Marks, Golia & Finch, LLP, a 30-attorney law firm serving the construction industry, is changing its name to Marks, Finch, Thornton & Baird LLP. Jason R. Thornton and Jeffrey B. Baird both started at the firm in early 1997 when the firm had six lawyers, and have been partners in the firm for many years. Both Thornton and Baird have been recognized as Top Lawyers by the San Diego Daily Transcript in Construction and Real Estate Law. The other partners of the firm are Chad T. Wishchuk, head of the firm’s labor and employment practice; Louis J. Blum, a construction attorney mentored in trial advocacy for nearly 10 years; and David S. Manager Appointed for Mt. Woodson Golf Club
Golf industry veteran Grant Wingate has been named general manager at the Mt. Woodson Golf Club Ramona. Wingate joins Mt. Woodson after serving as director of golf tournament sales/director of golf at Sycuan Golf and Tennis Resort in El Cajon, where he oversaw operations for two championship golf courses and an executive golf course. Prior experience also includes serving as director of sales and marketing/director of golf at Salt Creek Golf Club in San Diego; tour director of the Golf Channel Amateur Tour, including operations of the Golf Channel National Championship; and project coordinator for Resort Golf Group in Scottsdale, Ariz. Wingate holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Magma Appoints Chief Operating Officer
Tim Miller has joined Magma in the newly created role of chief operating officer. Miller previously was CEO of Dolphin Interconnect Solutions. He was a founder a CEO of StarGen, which was acquired by Dolphin. He also worked at Digital Equipment Corp. where he held a number of marketing and general management positions in the systems and semiconductor businesses.
Credit Union Building Completed in Oceanside
Construction has been completed on a new branch of the San Diego County Credit Union in Oceanside. The branch is a freestanding building within the Towne Center North retail center at College Boulevard and Mission Avenue. The 4,700 square-foot commercial tenant improvement project began in October 2010 and included demolition and construction to transform the tenant space into a Class A credit union branch. KMA Architecture designed the project.

Old Globe’s 2011 Shakespeare Festival

The Old Globe Theatre’s 2011 Shakespeare Festival is in full swing with productions of “The Tempest,” “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Amadeus.” Performances in repertory run through Sept. 25 in the outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre. Tickets are available by subscription and prices range from $72 to $243. Single tickets are also available starting at $29.
