GA to Deliver Predator to Germany
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. has signed an agreement with RUAG Aerospace Services GmbH to offer its Predator B Reaper unmanned aircraft to the Federal Republic of Germany. RUAG builds and maintains military systems of the German forces and border patrol. Under the agreement, it will provide logistical and operational support of the Predator B after delivery to the German government. The Predator B Reaper is a long-endurance, medium-high-altitude unmanned aircraft that can be used for surveillance, military reconnaissance and targeting missions. It is currently operational with the U.S. Air Force, Royal Air Force and the Italian Air Force.
San Diego Law Library to Expand Online Services
The San Diego Law Library on Monday will launch a new online service that adds social media and other resources for the general public and the legal community. Called the Library Virtual Experience (LiVE!), the network incorporates Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, YouTube, Yelp and other online outlets to reach new audiences, including the library’s interactive Website at sandiegolawlibrary.org. “There are many ways the community can benefit from the law library beyond physically walking through the doors of our branches,” said John Adkins, director of the San Diego Law Library system. “Through LiVE!, the law library will help drive the use of new technologies for accessing legal information. And, we plan to have fun while doing it.” Through LiVE!, lawyers and the public can access the library’s electronic catalog, legal research databases and chat online with law librarians through instant messaging. YouTube videos will be available for tips on conducting legal research.
Security Business Bank Names Senior Vice President
Gary Youmans has been named senior vice president of Security Business Bank. He has more than 20 years of financial services experience. Youmans spent the majority of his banking career at Pacific Western Bank, where he was executive vice president. He was a member of the board at Community National Bank and is currently a member of the board of CDC Small Business Finance Corp. and the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders. He was past president of the Southwest Riverside County Economic Development Corp. Youmans earned a bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University and attended Pacific Coast Banking School.
Vista’s Primrose Apartments Sold for $2.35 Million
The Primrose Apartments at 2240-60 Primrose Ave. in Vista have been sold for $2.35 million to Chris Megison, president of North County Solutions for Change, which will provide affordable housing for families with children. The project has 22 two-bedroom, one-bathroom units that were sold for $106,818 per unit or $131 per square foot. The seller, Primrose Park Apartments LLC, plans to complete a 1031 tax deferred exchange into a commercial income property. In August 2010 the seller sold the contiguous 22 units for the same selling price of $2.35 million. Ray Adams of Cassidy Turley BRE Commercial represented the seller in the transaction. The buyer was represented by Monty James of Pacific Coast Executive Realty. Escrow was provided by Teresa McElaney of Chicago Title.
Music Director Named at KSCF-FM Sophie 103.7
Radio industry veteran Matt Stone has been named music director/assistant program director at San Diego’s KSCF-FM Sophie (103.7), which is owned and operated by CBS Radio. He will start on May 9. He replaces Cristy Westfall, who resigned. Stone previously held positions as program director and afternoon drive personality of WTMT in Asheville, N.C. and WJAD in Georgia.
SAIC Leases Space in Poway
SAIC has leased 29,185 square feet of industrial distribution/warehouse space at 13691 Danielson St. at the Parkway Commerce Center in Poway. The space will be used for manufacturing. The 60-month lease is valued at over $1.5 million. Bill Dolan of CB Richard Ellis represented the property owner, Invesco. Randall Wood and Tambra Martinez of Jones Lang LaSalle represented SAIC.
Five New Members Join McAlister Institute Board
Five new members have been appointed to the board of directors of the McAlister Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides services to men, women and children affected by addiction. The new members are Sally Hazzard, owner of an independent management consulting firm; Mark Hower, an executive at Wells Fargo Bank; Elaine Levy, a services director at the San Diego Society of Health-System Pharmacists; John McCaughey, a marine consultant and yacht broker who captains vessels throughout the world; and George Vahle III, director of enterprise sales at Applied Statistics and Management Inc. John Cleary, a partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, was appointed president of the board. Other members are Dave Loveland, vice president; Larry Mulvaney, treasurer; Jeanie Emigh, secretary; and directors Randy Doll, Mike Franz, R. Scott Hoover, Leonard Pool and Mayra Vasquez.
