Around town fashion seemed to be the common denominator at two different events. First, Feb. 23, the 2011 Nordstrom’s Designer Spring  Preview was unveiled at a private airport hangar next to Lindbergh Field. The beneficiary of the event was the New Children’s Museum.
NCM Executive Director Rachel Teagle had these comments: “The museum could not sustain its work without the passion and support of the community and the investment of committed corporate partners such as Nordstrom.”
Guests, including Lee Posnock, Joan Waitt and Lauren Krause, enjoyed cocktails and a stellar fashion show spotlighting the designs of Céline, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, Emilio Pucci, Jason Wu, Lanvin, Missoni, Oscar de la Renta, Stella McCartney and Versace.

Meanwhile, the San Diego Opera opened its season with a gala evening of Turnadot. Iris and Matthew Strauss underwrote the opera — it’s one of their favorites. Esther Burnham was honored, David C. Copley was a lead donor termed an “Opera Angel,” and the Dow Divas were once again the chairs of the event. The Dow Divas are: President Iris Lynn Strauss, Rusti Bartell, Barbara Bloom, Tanya Brandes, Lee Clark, Karen Cohn, Valerie Cooper, Olivia Farrell, Alberta Feurzeig. Jake Figi, Dawn Gilman, Lee Goldberg, Jennifer Greenfield, Joan Jacobs, Jeanne Jones, Wanda Kaufman, Lynda Kerr, Sheila Lipinsky, Mary Keough Lyman, Sarah B. Marsh-Rebelo, Sheila Potiker, Colette Carson Royston, Sheryl White, M. Faye Wilson and Pamela Wygod.
Dow Diva fashion notes included Iris Strauss and Colette Royston in Naeem Khan, Lee Clark in Carolina Herrera Couture, Joan Jacobs and Olivia Farrell in two distinct Catherine Regehr gowns and Sarah B. Marsh-Rebelo wore a beautiful Asian-themed red gown.
