Housing Commission Purchases Mariners Village Apartments
The San Diego Housing Commission has purchased the Mariners Village Apartments in Paradise Hills for $31.5 million from Mariners Investors Inc. Built in 1988, the Mariners Village Apartments, located at 6847 Potomac St., contain 172 units in 12 garden-style buildings. There are 20 one-bedroom, one-bath units, 56 two-bedroom, one-bath units, 52 two-bedroom, two-bath units and 44 three-bedroom, two-bath units. Interior amenities include a private balcony or patio, air conditioning, ceiling fan, dishwasher, refrigerator and large walk-in closet in select units. Common area amenities include gated access, swimming pool, spa, playground, laundry facility, detached garages and storage space. Ed Rosen, John Chu and Alejandro Lombrozo of Cushman & Wakefield represented the seller in the transaction. Symposium on Mexican History is Nov. 6
Mingei International Museum and the Mexican Consulate in San Diego will present a premiere symposium on Mexican history Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the museum in Balboa Park. The symposium is being held in celebration of the bicentennial of Mexican independence and the centennial of its revolution and features scholars from both Mexico and the United States. The event accompanies Mingei International’s “Viva Mexico — Heroes and Artisans” exhibit. Symposium topics include the history of Mexican independence and its revolution and Mexican identity and the arts in the 20th century. Tickets for the symposium are $15 for museum members, faculty and students and $20 for the general public. Advance reservations are required. International speaker and trainer Jenn August is the featured speaker at the Nov. 17 meeting of the National Association of Women Business Owners San Diego. Ronald McDonald House Charities Names New CEO
Veteran nonprofit executive Charles “Chuck” Day has been named president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego to replace Bill Lennartz, who is retiring after three and a half years in the position. Day will assume the position on Dec. 1. Day most recently served as vice president and senior director of philanthropy for Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation. Day was a driving force in raising more than $228 million for the hospital foundation during 15 years of service in positions of increasing responsibility. He has more than 28 years of leadership experience across a broad spectrum of roles in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, marketing and public relations.
SharePoint360 Appoints Project Principal
San Diego-based consulting firm SharePoint360 has appointed Paul Cassidy as project principal. Cassidy has more than 22 years of experience in the field and currently leads project controls and document management for the joint venture redevelopment project of the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles County. Prior to joining SharePoint360, Cassidy was vice president and technology integration manager for CH2M HILL, a construction and consulting firm. He holds bachelor of science degree in electrical and electronic engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the U.K. and an MBA in leadership and management from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
Walter Management Co. Renews Lease
Walters Management Co. has signed a $1,752,250 lease renewal for 13,409 square feet of office space in Chesapeake Park Plaza at 9665 Chesapeake Dr., Suites 300 and 355, in San Diego. Terms of the lease were not disclosed. The lessee was represented by Jay Arnett, Deborah Hunkeler and Kevin Farrell of Cushman & Wakefield. The lessor, ARI-Chesapeake Park Plaza LLC, was represented by Jeb Bakke, Scott Kincaid, Tyler Gossett and Laura Bonnett of CB Richard Ellis.
