S.D. Association of Realtors Hires Molloy and Smithwick

The San Diego Association of Realtors has hired Scott Molloy as government affairs director and Share Smithwick as membership services manager, beginning Jan. 1. Molloy will lead the organization’s lobbying and advocacy efforts and Smithwick will provide customer service to East and South County members.

Molloy will help facilitate SDAR’s legislative goals and priorities and confer with elected and appointed government officials to influence passage, defeat, or amendment of legislation affecting real estate.  In the recent past, SDAR’s lobbying efforts have resulted in the raising of the first-time homebuyer tax credit from $7,500 to $8,500, to remove the repayment requirement associated with it and for higher conforming loan limits.  The association continues to lobby and advocate with the goal of ensuring that legislation passed will benefit the local real estate market and stimulate the housing market as a whole.

Most recently, Molloy served for six years as public policy adviser to the Building Industry Association of San Diego County. His prior experience also includes positions as a real estate development consultant and development project manager. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in mechanical engineering. Smithwick joins SDAR after 20 years of customer service and association membership experience with the East County Association of Realtors. Smithwick began her real estate career with Supra Key Control in 1984 as SKC manager for South Bay and East County. Smithwick’s hire comes about as SDAR announces the opening of its new Service Center located in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista. The fourth of SDAR’s centers, it will service a growing population of nearly 1,000 members who live or work in the South Bay.
