George Chamberlin, executive editor of The Daily Transcript and business editor at KOGO Radio, is the SBAs Small Business Journalist of the Year for 2008. Chamberlin spent 15 years working for the Wall Street firm of Merrill Lynch and Prudential Securities as a vice president before turning to journalism.
At KOGO Radio, he is host of the weekly two-hour program, "Money in the Morning," which focuses on personal finance and issues facing business owners and consumers. He also is money adviser for NBC television in San Diego, providing on-air financial reports each weekday, and hosts the monthly program "Money Matters."
Chamberlin began contributing financial articles to The Daily Transcript in 1988 and he subsequently became executive editor of the business publication.
Chamberlin is a frequent speaker at local chambers of commerce, SCORE San Diego luncheons and Rotary meetings and is the host for the annual Junior Achievement Awards dinner. He and his wife, Terri, are founders and past presidents of the San Marcos Boys and Girls Club.
