What are your hobbies and/or relaxations?

I enjoy writing. I’ve written about 150 articles for financial publications over the years – jogging, scuba diving, rock climbing, and skiing – I have a home in Utah about 30 minutes from Park City.

Did you ever have a mentor and what did he/she teach you?

My mentor Fred Humphries was an executive in Boise, Idaho who taught me the value of recognizing and quantifying risk.

Five years from now, community banks will…

…we’ll see a consolidation of the many community banks that have been chartered over the last six to eight years.

What keeps you up at night?

Reading how-to books, and banking or finance related, especially the series by Donald Trump. He’s a good self-promoter. He tells you to be tenacious and not to let your friends or peers or associates discourage you from moving toward achieving your goals.
